- Heat Summation Rating
- Rating determined by totaling the number of degrees that the temperature exceeds 50° F each day during the growing season. If today’s average temperature is 70° F, this day would add 20 heat-summation units or degree days to the growing season (70 - 50 = 20).
- Heat Summation Region
- Five regions for grape growing. Region I is the coldest with 2,500 or fewer degree days, V is the warmest with 4,001+ degree days.
