The 2007 Gallo Family Vineyards Gold Medal Awards Program honored its second program winners on April 26 th with a celebratory luncheon in New York City.   The menu, specially-created by James Beard nominated chef Daniel Humm, uniquely showcased some of the award-winning products, delighting the eyes and palates of over 100 guests, including leading national and local media and top influencers in the food and wine industry. Winning producers hailed from around the country--Connecticut, Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Georgia--demonstrating that producing and supporting artisanal foods have become a rapidly increasing nationwide trend.

Gallo Family Vineyards created the Gold Medal Awards program in 2006 to recognize excellence and the highest standards in quality and craftsmanship among artisanal food producers in the United States.

This year, entries flooded in from ever inch of the country, with over 300 applications submitted and over 200 food products sampled for the panel of culinary expert judges to taste.   In the end only one entry from each of the six categories could be chosen.   A difficult, yet delicious task indeed!

As Americans become increasingly attuned to the virtues of wine and food pairing, Gallo Family Vineyards is proud to celebrate this country's rich agricultural heritage and shine the spotlight on the rising stars in food production.

The 2008 program will be underway later this fall.   In the meantime, visit the following pages to learn more about the newly announced 2007 winners and their tasty products, as well as the fantastic people who won last year .
