2004 Sonoma Reserve Merlot
Wine
Our Sonoma County Merlot showcases the softer, fuller and richer side of Merlot. The aromas are warm and inviting with hints of crushed berries, vanilla and spice. The palate follows with dark and deep flavors of blackberry pie, wild berries and jam with a lush, round mouthfeel.
Destemmed but not crushed, our Merlot grapes were cold soaked for 24 hours prior to fermentation. Minimizing bitterness and allowing for complete extraction of the red wine color and flavor a combination of upright, rotary and punchdown fermenters were used. 100% of this wine completed malolactic fermentation, then was aged in French, European and American oak barrels for an average of five months to impart subtle hints of oak flavor.
