Home to our Gallo Family Vineyards Winery, our family’s Frei Ranch Vineyard was originally planted in the 1880s by Charles Dunz and Andrew Frei. It is located in the cooler, hillside benchlands of the Dry Creek Valley, where soils are a combination of gravel, clay, and loam. The vineyard’s combination of warm days and cool nights ripen the fruit more slowly, which results in wines that are refined and elegant.
Frei Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have firm tannins, dense colors, and intense aromas and flavors of concentrated cherry, berry, plum, and spice. The vineyard's Zinfandel grapes make full-bodied, complex wines with aromas and flavors of plum, ripe berry, and black pepper spice.
